This will be one of 2012′s most sought after beers! Barley wine is a big bold style of beer, very heavy on the malt, more mellow on the hops (traditionally). As a style, barley wine is usually aged before packaging. Backburner is Southern Tier’s version, and this year, it’s aged in bourbon oak barrels! I am expecting the flavors in this beer to be otherworldly! I just heard about the new release from Blue Point, a white IPA so I had to try it. The beer pours a golden color with a frothy white head. The aroma consists of
Belgian yeast, wheat, peppercorn, lemon, and grass. The taste is dry and bitter with plenty of peppercorn, grass, lemongrass, and wheat. There is a bit of Belgian yeast that sweetens the finish and the after taste stays warm and dry. The alcohol content is 6.0% ABV.
